New work placement students, and launching the SwENG Project

All the new work placements students in their first company meeting

We are thrilled to welcome a new group of work placement students to Mersus Technologies! We are excited to provide these talented individuals with the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the immersive technology industry.

Induction Day

For the first time since Lockdown, we decided to have an in-person Induction Day at our office.  We wanted all the students to feel a part of the team from the start and felt like the in-person day would facilitate this.

The day included presentations, trying out our VR experiences, ice breaker games and lunch.  It was a great opportunity for the students to meet the team here, and each other.

SwENG Project

Also kicking off this week was the SwENG project with students from Trinity College.  This is a project run each year where teams of students from Trinity’s Schools of Computer Science and Statistics partner with companies to work on a project.   The project is an opportunity to connect future engineers with companies to work together on real-life industry projects proposed and mentored by the industry partners.   We are really looking forward to seeing what the students build and discover under the mentorship of the Mersus team.

Opportunities for Students

Our internship program offers a variety of exciting opportunities for students to explore their interests and develop their skills in the ever-growing field of immersive technology. Our team of passionate and experienced professionals is committed to providing students with the guidance and support they need to succeed in their placements.  Some of the roles we provide internships/work placements in are as follows:

  • Immersive Developer – implementing VR worlds and interactions
  • Creative Developer – designing, creating and optimising 3d assets and environments
  • Software Developer – Working on the backend of our VR training platform
  • Concept Designer/UXD – Constantly improving the accessibility, utility and comfort of VR experiences, both for trainee and trainer users

At Mersus, we believe in fostering a dynamic learning environment that accommodates a wide range of disciplines, ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds can benefit from valuable experiences and professional development. With numerous placement roles available, like  digital marketing, concept artists, graphic design, business, and data analytics we strive to accommodate the varied interests and skill sets of aspiring professionals.

Our Commitment to Student Success

Our immersive internship program provides unparalleled opportunities to gain hands-on experience, hone technical skills, and cultivate well-rounded professional abilities.

Students are seamlessly integrated into our Agile workflow, contributing to real-world projects and collaborating with industry experts. Our comprehensive curriculum, tailored to each role, will equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the ever-evolving tech landscape.

Our new students for work placement

Throughout their placement, students have a dedicated mentor who will guide their development, provide personalised feedback, and connect them with key resources. This supportive network will help students navigate the challenges and opportunities of their placement with confidence.

Beyond technical expertise, we’ll also focus on developing students’ communication and presentation skills, essential for success in today’s hybrid or remote working environments. They will learn to effectively convey ideas, build rapport with colleagues and present their work with impact.

We are looking forward to having an expanded team over the next few months and seeing all the creative ideas our new work placement students bring, and to see them grow and develop their skills.
