At Mersus Technologies, we pride ourselves on our innovative approach to virtual reality and how it can revolutionise workplace training for a multitude of industries. Our innovation however is only possible thanks to the amazing individuals we call employees, who help shape the next wave of immersive experiences. As such, for today’s blog post, we would like to spotlight one such employee, Jordan Murphy.

Jordan Murphy, a 2021 graduate of Game Art and Design from the Technological University of Shannon and Midlands, Clonmel campus, started his journey with Mersus through our graduate program. His final year project—a narrative-driven VR experience utilising experimental hand tracking—caught our attention and earned him a three-month internship, which quickly transitioned into a full-time junior position.

From Graduate to Leader

Jordan’s career progression within Mersus Technologies has been nothing short of inspiring. Demonstrating consistent dedication, creativity, and a forward-thinking mindset, he quickly rose through the ranks from junior to mid-level developer. His knack for innovation was evident through his work on client projects and groundbreaking research, including soft body simulations and early VR feature integrations.

Today, Jordan serves as the Platform Lead for Avatar Academy, Mersus Technologies’ flagship virtual reality training platform, which recently launched in early access on the Meta Quest Store. In this leadership role, he is responsible for steering the platform’s strategic and technical vision. Furthermore, Jordan oversees the platform development team, roadmaps future innovations, and ensures that all development aligns with Mersus’ mission to deliver cutting-edge immersive experiences.

Pioneering the Avatar Academy Platform

Jordan’s proudest achievement so far has been the transformation of Avatar Academy into a unified application. Initially scoped as an 18-month migration, under Jordan’s leadership the platform was fully developed in just six months—a testament to his drive and the collaborative spirit he fosters within his team.

Jordans focus remains on scalability, feasibility, and technological integration, all with the goal of delivering seamless and engaging virtual reality training for clients across industries.
