Welcoming Our New Erasmus Students to Mersus!
Mersus are excited to welcome two new international students joining us through the Erasmus programme, a creative developer and a software developer from Spain. Héctor and Jorge, who are studying at Centro Público Integrado de Formación Profesional Los Enlaces, will be working with our team on creative and full stack development projects over the coming months.
Mersus Technologies has been part of the Erasmus programme for several years, and we truly believe it’s a fantastic opportunity, not just for students to gain international work experience but also for companies like ours to benefit from fresh ideas and diverse perspectives.
How Erasmus Software Developers Enrich Our Tech Team
One of the most interesting aspects of hosting Erasmus students is seeing how software development practices differ and align, across borders. While core skills like problem-solving, coding, and collaboration are universal, each country brings its own approaches to workflows, tools, and innovation. For example, Spain has a thriving tech scene with strengths in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. The Spanish educational system places a strong emphasis on STEM subjects, and our Erasmus students come from this rich academic background. Their participation will create a dynamic learning environment for both our team and our Erasmus visitors as we exchange best practices and explore new ideas together.

Erasmus Developers in Action: Innovating VR & 3D Design
Our creative developer Héctor will focus on crafting immersive 3D assets for virtual reality, a field where artistry and technical skill collide. VR content creation varies globally, with cultural influences shaping everything from aesthetic styles to user interaction design. In Spain, most of the 3D industry is centred in Barcelona and Madrid, but there are smaller studios around the country also producing unique and artistic work. Some of them are small videogame studios (mostly indies) and 3D printers. But most of the 3D artists focused on VR in Spain are independent artists focused on commissions (usually for VTubers or content creators) or small communities, with the biggest community of them being the VR social videogame “VR Chat,” creating avatars and environments for their clients. By collaborating with these diverse creators, we aim to merge local innovation with our expertise in VR training apps, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas that elevates immersive storytelling.
Why Hosting Erasmus Software Developers Benefits Mersus
At Mersus, we value innovation, collaboration, and learning from different cultures. Past Erasmus students have brought new skills, creative solutions, and even lasting contributions to our projects.
What’s Next for Our New Team Members?
During their time here, Héctor and Jorge will work with their mentors on our in-house training materials, then progress onto working on live projects and perhaps even refining and improving our Platform. We also encourage them to explore the midlands and beyond and make the most of their experience abroad.
We’re proud to support the Erasmus programme and look forward to seeing the impact this year’s students will have. Stay tuned for updates on their journey with us!
